Story
Nathan loved life; his passions were his Motorbikes, Moto GP & British Super Bikes. Along with this he loved Gaming both PC & X Box. For such a laid back person, he invented swear words over his X Box headset. He was quite a shy lad until he got to know you then out came the mischievous character and dry humour.
On the night of Monday 13th April 2015, at 24 years of age Nathan had an acute asthma attack, the delay in the emergency services attending resulted in him going into cardiac arrest due to lack of oxygen. He was admitted to Tameside General Hospital and sent up to the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) who did an excellent job of caring for not only him but us (his family) too.
Unfortunately Nathan never recovered and he was pronounced dead on Wednesday 15th April 2015. Because of this choice to donate his organs Nathan was on life support until Thursday 16th April and family members were allowed to say their goodbyes to him before surgery. Nathan has such a lot of family and the ITU staff were amazingly patient with us all and tried to look after us as well as doing their daily routines. Even though it’s not their job, the staff had sandwiches and beverages sent into the side room we had. They were a ray of light in our darkest days.
We want people to be more aware and respect how serious asthma can be. If we can prevent further deaths from Asthma we have succeeded.
We will be holding another fundraiser on 9th October 2015 at Droylsden Catholic Club in aid of the ITU Dept. .... More details to follow
We realise that many people won’t be able to attend the events so we have set up this page to allow for people to still donate even if they can’t attend, if they wish too.
