The challenge

Starting on the 15th of July, I'll be attempting to walk the entirety of the Pennine Way in 10 days, in aid of the Nepal Leprosy Trust.

The Pennine Way is a 276 mile route from Derbyshire to Scotland. It is widely regarded as one of the most challenging long distance trails in the UK, crossing moors, mountain ranges and bogs - a wild and rugged route.

Most walkers complete it in around 18 or 19 days, so trying to do it in 10 is going to hurt a lot! It will involve over a marathon's worth of distance, day after day, complete with a pack and a good few thousand feet of ascent thrown in. To top it off, I'm hoping to avoid B&Bs by “sleeping out” wherever I can find suitable shelter, with a roll matt and bivvy bag. At least it will help me be off early in the mornings...!

The need

I really hope that you'll appreciate how difficult this challenge will be, and dig deep for a very worthwhile cause: The Nepal Leprosy Trust.

It performs much needed work for people in desperate situations. When I visited its leprosy hospital in southern Nepal seven years ago, I saw for myself the damage that leprosy can do when untreated. But I also saw the good that NLT does, treating as many (and more) people than its resources can stretch to, working hard in the rural communities where ancient stigma still surrounds leprosy sufferers.

It is an organisation which would deeply appreciate your support. Right now NLT is in need of new surgical equipment. You could be the good people who help patients in Nepal receive the treatment they need to change their lives.

So please click that big inviting "Donate Now" button just below. It really is quick and easy to do - don't hold back, be generous!

Thanks so much for your time,

Alan
