My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A good chance to see a bit of Europe, meet new people and maybe raise a little money for a good cause. And there's not much on TV these days anyway...

Rome - 21 March - One down, nine to go. Rome was awesome, running around the city past all the sites. A good place to eat pasta and icecream. A slowish time - 4.53, but then I had a cold all week and I wouldn't want to peak too early!

Paris - 11 April - Notre Dame, The Pompidou Centre, The Eiffel Tower and a personal best time of - 4.29

London - 25 - April - Best marathon in the world made special by the supporters, there were thousands of them all very vocal. Started slow but didn't want to be slower than Paris so sprinted the finish. 4.29

Prague - 9 May - A beautiful city. Marathon began with the music of Smetana which really complemented the surroundings. Fastest time so far - 4:20

Edinburgh - 23 May - Really hot. Who would have thought Scotland would have a heatwave. A painful 4:40

Stockholm - 5 June - Nice marathon, well organized with free beer and hotdog at the end. Not fast - 4:40 but who cares about the time?

Swiss Alpine - 31 July - Switzerland is so beautiful and so hilly. This was tough, up and down mountains at an altitude of 3000m. 6:20

Berlin - 26 September - Pulled hamstring tuesday before run then missed flight and had to buy new ticket at airport. Was determined to run so bandaged up leg and limped round the full 26 miles - 4h50

Amsterdam - 17 October - Still suffering from injured hamstring and had to keep stopping to stretch, but a good time of 4h04. Now it's all down to Athens to break 4 hours!

Athens - 31 October - Now the Greeks may have their faults but if there is one thing they do well it’s organise a sensational marathon. Spectators hand out olive branches as you run the route Phidippides ran exactly 2500 years ago. The finish is in the Panathinaikos Stadium, the stadium of the first ever modern Olympic Games. On the negative side I tore my hamstring again the Sunday before and so had to limp round the first half. Managed to pick up the pace a little once my muscles had warmed up but this was never going to be about a fast time - it was hot and uphill! 5hrs10mins

So that’s it - all done! Please keep giving though. I won’t rest until I’ve reached £5000. I recon £500 per marathon seems fair
