We provide a lifetime of support to the wider Army Family.

Story

So we have had to move the Blessing and Laying of The 10 Wreaths to Sunday 4th October at The Fusiliers Annual Service in Warwick at 3pm.

Thank you so much for your wonderful support and generosity at this very difficult time - our injured military will be so very grateful.

Simon

At 4.00pm on Saturday 28th March 2020, the Right Reverend John Stroyan, The Bishop of Warwick, will at St Mary’sin Warwick conduct a Service to bless 10 Wreaths, of which seven are to
remember the seven members of 2 Fusiliers who lost their lives on Op HERRICK in 2009, one is to remember those members of the Household Division, including a Trooper from Coleshill, Warwickshire, who also lost their lives in Afghanistan and two are to remember two of Warwickshire’s Field Marshals, Viscount Montgomery and Viscount Slim. Both Field Marshals Montgomery and Slim were members of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment which now finds its home in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers; it is entirely appropriate that the blessing of the Wreaths will be conducted beside the Chapel where the Colours of the 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers were laid up in a poignant ceremony on Sunday 9th October 2016.

Following the Service, the Wreaths will be transported by road to Polesworth Abbey, in the North of the County of Warwickshire, where they will rest overnight.

On Sunday 29th March 2020, an escort of Warwickshire Household Division former Officers and Guardsmen and affiliates will, by bicycle, carry and escort The 10 Wreaths from Polesworth Abbey to the National Memorial Arboretum Staffordshire where the Escorting party will be met at 10.15am (car park) by the High Sheriff of Staffordshire, Mr Ashley Brough. There will be a short Service commencing at 11.00am (please be at The Bastion Memorial by 10.30am) during which The 10 Wreaths will be laid.

HRH The Duke of Kent KG GCMG GCVO CD ADC(P) has graciously agreed to attend the Laying of The 10 Wreaths.

It is intended that the monies that are raised from this event which will include a donation from a Corporate Sponsor, namely Miles Smith, Insurance Brokers in the City of London, will be divided between The Army Benevolent Fund, The Household Division Charity and the Fusiliers Aid Society.

There is, of course, no charge for these events; donations are welcome at www.justgiving.com/10wreaths
