We are the soldiers of <a href="http://www.army.mod.uk/royalengineers/units/853.aspx">131 Independent Commando Squadron Royal Engineers</a>. <span style="background: white; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">131 Commando </span><span style="background: white;">is a reserve unit of the British Territorial Army, affiliated to 24 Commando Regiment Royal Engineers. It provides general engineering support to 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines and is the largest Territorial Army Commando unit.</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: &quot;Century Gothic&quot;; background: white;">With 302 Troop firmly established in the city of Bath, and with quite a few members being from the city or the surrounding area, it seemed fitting to take the opportunity of the further training and publicity afforded by the Bath Half Marathon. As such we will be undertaking the picturesque Bath route in under two and a half hours whilst in uniform and carrying a bergan of 45llbs.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: &quot;Century Gothic&quot;; background: white;">As well as being a great chance to get out on the road and yomp the Bath countryside it will also enable us to raise some vital awareness and, more importantly, funds for the Bath Royal United Hospital. Working in conjunction with the <a href="http://www.foreverfriendsappeal.co.uk/">Forever Friends Appeal</a> and <a href="http://www.foreverfriendsappeal.co.uk/campaigns/gamma-ct-scanner/">Cancer Care Campaign</a> we are hoping that with your kind donations we can help raise funds for an essential state of the art Gamma CT Scanner. Early treatment is essential in combating the disease and a primary use of a Gamma Camera is to diagnose some of the myriad types of cancer that can affect us. It can also be used in the detection of heart disease, bone pain and neurological disorders.</span></p>
