Story

On one day every year in Nepal, all dogs are venerated. A red tika is put on their forehead, they are garlanded, and invoked to guard their house as the dog guards the gates of the underworld.*

Inspired by Nepal’s Day of the Dog, the Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre is holding its third annual charity walk in Regent’s Park on 17th October 2010,  the Sunday of FRIEZE Art Fair. Please support us on our walk. We will be one of up to 108 dogs taking part - all donations will be much appreciated.

KCAC has added contemporary to its name and is now the Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre. In 2009 having found an ideal building in Kathmandu, we converted it and opened with much fanfare and an elephant in January 2010. For further information please visit  www.kathmanduarts.org

* a donation will be made to the Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre, a charity helping street dogs in Kathmandu - www.katcentre.org.np

About the charity

Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre's mission is to act as a catalyst for contemporary artists in Nepal and promote their work abroad. In 2010 KCAC established Nepal's first international contemporary arts centre in Patan and began giving scholarships to emerging Nepali artists.
