1 is the saddest number

Would you want to spend Christmas alone?  Here are the facts.  Unfortunately they make sad reading.

1 in 4 people in Northern Ireland aged 65 and over spend more than 15 hours alone each day.  Over half of people aged 65 and over say the TV is their main source of company and 17% of older people in NI feel trapped in their own homes.  Looking at these shocking statisics it is perhaps not surprising that many older people are so depressed that they withdraw from society.  Furthermore, is it any wonder that some are so desperate they become ill?

Thanks to the support and generosity of donors like you, we have made positive steps to combat this isolation.

We Will provide advice and advocacy services on subjects such as benefits, housing, health, community care and consumer issues.

We Will provide day centres around Northern Ireland to help provide older people wth much needed company and a hot meal.

We Will install our immediate response service, Aid Call into more homes, enabling older people to call for help.

We Will help make older people's homes safe and secure through our HandyVan services.

To continue our services we urgently need your continued support.  Thank you.
