We raise money to help The Royal Marsden provide world-class care for cancer patients, and to support the hospital’s pioneering work in cancer research and education. By doing this, we aim to help make life better for people with cancer everywhere, and strive for a future without it.
As you may already know, my Mum lost her year long battle with cancer in January this year.
In Mum's memory I have decided to run/walk/crawl (get a cab!) the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon in April and will be running for the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign. I will not be running alone, and will have Sue and our freind Catherine with me every step of the way.
The Royal Marsden does not just treat people locally, they have an army of doctors and nurses who provide support for people suffering with cancer across the entire UK and the Channel Islands. The money raised will be put to use on care, nursing, research, and new treatment trials as the Royal Marsden continue in their attempts to find a cure for this horrible disease.
Mum spent the last 4 weeks of her life as a patient at the Royal Marsden, the care and compassion that she and the rest of the family were shown in this time was simply fantastic, and if you could spare a couple of quid in support of Catherine, Sue and I, that would be equally fantastic.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
All we can say is WOW. What a fantastic day, the support from the Tammy, Amanda and the colleagues from the Royal Marsden was fantastic and the crowds who lined the streets from start to finish were a pure inspiration. We all managed to get home safe and sound, Catherine left Sue and FATBOY behind and finished in 5hrs 18 minutes. As for Sue well she stayed with me everystep of the way and we eventually crossed the line in 6hrs 8mins, not fantastic but it was all about finishing, and this time I finished before the Wombles!!!.
It is not too late to sponsor us, so if you can spare a few quid then it will be very much appreciated.
