My story
Firstly, thanks for taking the time to have a wee look here and for hopefully parting with some pennies to help us reach our fundraising target.
Last year, I took part in the Shine Glasgow Marathon Walk with 2 friends, which brought together thousands of fundraisers who all completed a 26.2 mile route, raising money for different branches of cancer research.
I got an email recently from Shine asking if I'd be signing up again this year and that got me thinking of what else I could do - something different from the same challenge as last year. I had a number of ideas bouncing around and not being 100% sure what would be best, I spoke to Peter and Cammy to help decide what to go with...and then managed to talk them into taking part with me.
So, that got us to here. On Saturday 23rd June 2012 at 12noon, the three of us will set off from Berwick Rangers FC's Shielfield Park and begin our 24 hour walk back up the road to my mums house in Livingston - 70 miles away. Our aim is to get there for 12noon on the Sunday where we hope to be met by friends, family, a BBQ, some beers and buckets of ice for our feet - or at least what's left of them.
All the money we raise will be for 'Bosom Buds of Scotland', a local breast cancer charity. Since my mum began her fight against breast cancer, Bosom Buds have been tremendous in assisting her where needed ranging from clothing, wigs, advice and more often than not, just a pair of ears to listen when she's needed someone.
