THIS SATURDAY 19th FEB!!!
10 University Students, 10 Weeks into Term, One Too Many Take Aways
.....the ULTIMATE Embarrassment!
For 24 hours, we aim to eat, sleep, drink, attend lectures and roam around Leeds...all in our Morph Suits!
We are hoping to raise £1000 for a student based charity called READ International. This £1000 will enable us to send out to Tanzania 2,000 text books to Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 school children. It costs just 50p to send a book out to East Africa, and with thousands of books in our storage unit in Leeds, every penny counts!
READ International is an award winning educational charity run by students and operating in universities across the UK. The flagship project, READ Book Project collects disused, high-quality textbooks from UK Secondary schools to send to Secondary schools in East Africa. Student volunteers also give Think Global workshops to school pupils to promote student volunteering, young enterprise, recycling and global citizenship. We also fundraise for and complete library refurbishments in Tanzania and Uganda to benefit the whole community.
READ wants to improve access to education for individuals in East Africa and have delivered over 850,000 books since 2005. They only send relevant and appropriate books to East Africa; all other books are sold through Better World Books or recycled. Due to an innovative low cost model it never costs READ more than 50p to send a book to Tanzania or Uganda.
We would really appreciate any donations to soften the blow when the inevitable pointing and laughing begins on 19th February!!
