Our mission is to support people to earn an income from a trade. We run vocational training and business development projects with our partners in Ghana, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia. Our UK volunteers collect and refurbish donated tools and sewing machines to support our projects and our shop sales.

Story

PunchFunk Presents:

"The 24hrDJ" @ Tiger Tiger in Gunwharf Quays Portsmouth

***In support of Tools for Self Reliance***

Featuring:

*The 24hr DJ* with an exclsuive 24 hour set starting at 23:59 on April 23rd and going all the way through to 00:01 on April 25th!

This event is to raise money for some of the poorest people in the world. At a time when the worlds eyes are focussing in other areas, it's the poorest that get overlooked.

The main goal of Tools for Self Reliance is to contribute to the Millennium Development Goal of eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, specifically in Africa. We do this by providing people on the margins with skills and tools to work their way out of poverty.

We help people find work as carpenters and seamstresses, start up new blacksmithing workshops and find new markets for the items they make. With our help people are able to build a better life for themselves and their communities. They can make life choices which they couldn’t make before. People can start to reinvest in their businesses. Parents can pay for their children to go to school. Families can use their income to pay for medical help when they get sick.

Please give as much as you can because EVERY penny counts. Remember, this is not raising money for some dictator to pocket and buy guns. This is PRACTICAL help for PRACTICAL people.

You can also support us by coming down to the even on the 24th of April, we will be having lots of fun so come and share the good times whilst directly helping some of the poorest people in the world.

You can see a bit more about TFSR here :--

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15c3tT3T7xs&feature=player_embedded
