The Mission!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  Between 14 Mar and 23 May 2010 I will complete three marathons and a 'fun run', as follows:

14 Mar 2010 - Notts to Derby Kilomarathon

25 Apr 2010 - Stafford Marathon (this may switch to the London Marathon should a place become available)

16 May 2010 - Great Manchester Run (6 mile fun run)

23 May 2010 - Edinburgh Marathon

Where is the money raised going?

The money I raise will be split equally between the Army Benevolent Fund and the 'Parish Centre Refurbishment Fund' for St.Lukes Church in Brinnington, Stockport.  The aspiration is to raise a minimum of £2000.

ABF.  The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) is the Soldiers' Charity, for the last 65 years the ABF has provided financial support to serving soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of real need. More details are available by clicking the ABF image on the left hand side.

St. Lukes Church.  St. Luke's Church is less well known so here are some details.  St. Lukes is my local church in Brinnington, Stockport.  Brinnington suffers from widespread poverty and post-industrial decay, the vast majority of the residents rent council housing and unemployment continues to remain well above 20%.  St. Lukes provides a central community hub to those resident on the estate and it continues to struggle to make ends meet.  One of the many ongoing issues is the Parish Centre which has seen better days, the bill to make good the repairs is in the region of £50,000.  The link to St. Lukes Church website is here: http://www.stlukesbrinnington.co.uk/

50% of your donations will go towards St Luke's and 50% to the ABF.

I will keep this page updated with my progress and photos.  Please give generously, these are both worthy causes.

For peace of mind when donating please read the message below from Just Giving...
