Just to let you know that on 24th April Steve and I completed our 3x3 peaks challenge.

In summary, lap 1 was easy, lap 2 was hard because of the heat and lap 3 was really hard because of lap 1 and lap 2 ;-)

A full account of our day in the hills can be found here :  http://blog.sportsshoes.com/2010/05/02/9-mountains-a-volcano-3x3-peaks/

Thanks again to everyone who donated - what a result!!

Andy and Steve.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Last year Steve and I were touched by cancer like so many other people have been and will be in the future.

Thankfully neither of us were affected personally but I had a work colleague and good friend lose her battle at a relatively young age, my brother in law's mum passed away after a long struggle with the disease and then a friend and Bingley Harriers team mate of Steve and mine was diagnosed with Leukemia and died shortly afterwards.

The passing of our friend Jenny just a few months after she'd won the 3 Peaks Fell Race over 60s award spurred us into action.

Steve and I are both dedicated runners and have put a few miles behind us over the years so we thought you might not be too willing to dig deep if we said we were going to run a 10k or even a marathon in aid of charity. We needed something a little more challenging, a real test of endurance with just a hint of lunacy to capture your imagination and make you reach for your wallets. So....

On April 24th we are going to try and run the 3 Peaks of the Yorkshire Dales 3 times in under 24 hours. In total this will be 9 mountain summits, approximately 72 miles and around 13000 feet of climbing.

We've chosen April 24th as this is the day of the famous 3 Peaks Fell Race when 800 of our fell running friends will be racing around Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough - we also feel it will be a fitting mark of respect to Jenny on the anniversary of her glorious run to victory.

Here's the plan - we'll set off at 2am on the morning of the race and tap out a 'quick' lap of the 24 mile course before getting back to the start field where we'll register for the race and run the course with all the other competitors (albeit somewhat slowly). When we finish, instead of heading to the beer tent in time honoured fashion, we'll have a quick bite to eat and a change of shoes and set off again to attempt our third lap. If all goes to plan we hope to get back to the pub before last orders.....time will tell.

We know that this challenge will be tough and there'll be highs and lows but they'll be nothing compared to the suffering our friends and their families went through as they waged their personal battles against cancer.

So go and dig down the back of the sofa, raid the kids piggy bank or walk to work and save the cost of a gallon of fuel then donate the proceeds. Any amount however small will be very gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance.

Andy & Steve
