In November 2007 a fleet of boats will compete in a 2,900 mile race between the Canary Islands and theWest Indies. The race should take the leading crews between forty to eighty days to complete. A crew consisting of four Metropolitan Police Officers have decided to undertake ultimate physical and mental challenge. Their goal...

To cross the finish line and beat the current record of 39 days

Andy Ehrhart, Mark Hefford, Nick Young Justin Ellis and reserve Andy are all Police Officers at the Metropolitan Police Specialist Training Centre. Their chosen main charity has always been the Cystic Fibrosis Trust as Andy Ehrharts son Ollie suffers from this genetic disorder.

Did you Know that……………..

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease.

Cystic Fibrosis affects over 8,000 people in the UK

Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population.

Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.

Each week, five babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis.

Each week, three people lose their fight against Cystic Fibrosis.

Average life expectancy is around 31 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live for longer.
