Story

I've taken up torturing myself with an instrument known as a bicycle in the name of 'Addaction', a charity which works with the friends and families of active drug addicts and alcoholics.

First, I did the London to Brighton cycle ride, which involved a lot of pain and suffering through the night, when I should have been tucked up in bed. I reached Brighton in 4 hours, 47 minutes and 12 seconds, having cycled 102km and climbed 2000 feet. It felt like running a marathon, but with no training.

I then did the Chilterns Gran Fondo, which is 100km with about 6000 feet climbing.

The Dunwich Dynamo 200km, through the night ride took me 8 hours, 48
minutes.

3rd August has a 200km London to Brighton AND BACK through the night event (unsupported), it should take me about 9-10 hours. There are considerable climbs. This will likely be the toughest ride of the year. So much so, I'm doing it again on the 28th September!

Before then is the 100km 'Do it for charity' London to Brighton ride - obviously I'm a glutton for punishment! That event is on the 22nd September and should serve as a nice training ride for the two way trip on the 28th.

Now that I've shared my diabolical plans with you, I'd like to beg, cajole and harass you all for money to at least make this agony (partially) worthwhile.
I've already raised over £100, and anything you could do to help me reach my £500 goal would be amazing.
That £500 could provide a safe space for the family of an abusive addict or alcoholic. It could provide counselling for the children of alcoholics - so that they aren't doomed to follow in their parents footsteps.
