My story

So the 6 Towns Run is back! But with a twist for 2012. I’m doubling the amount from 6 half marathons to 12. The 6 Towns Run X 2 = 12 half marathons in 12 days.

Why? I simply want to put something back into my local community and to continue to support the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice and the vital care they provide to critically and terminally ill children and their families.

I’m very lucky to be here, we all are; but some are not so fortunate; like 5 year old William who was born with a serious heart defect and has undergone two heart operations and is now waiting for a transplant so he can enjoy life just like you and I do. He visits the hospice on a regular basis.

So I’ll be running my legs off for children like William and his parents too. No one should have to outlive their child but the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice really do make every moment special; and they need our support and donations to continue to care for William and other children who aren’t as fortunate as you and I.

Please give what you can afford, every donation, whether big or small helps carry me when the legs don’t want to run and keeps me motivated knowing that money is coming in for the hospice.

Follow me on Twitter @6townsrunner for training updates and more.

Thank you

Phil

Charity Registration No. 1075597

The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust provides respite for children with life threatening conditions and support for the whole family at the hospice and in their own home. Our hospice called Treetops, is based in Trentham, on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent. Here we provide respite and end of life care for children from all over Staffordshire and South Cheshire that are between the ages of 0 and 19 years and have a life-threatening illness. We provide a safe, caring environment where children and families can truly feel at home.
A community nursing team provide respite and end of life care to children and families within their own homes.
Currently the Trust cares for 160 children from South Cheshire and Staffordshire. Its annual running costs of £2 million are obtained mainly from public donations.
