Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for the youth office of the Anglican Church of Tanzania (ACT). CMS are supporting us in this so your donations will be channelled through them, but all donations made on this page will go directly to support our work in Tanzania. We work with young people and youth groups (aged 13-40!) across the whole of Tanzania and have a variety of projects for which we are desperate for funds to enable us to continue. Most church youth groups tend to be choirs which write and perform their own music and preach the gospel widely through this music. They are lively and vibrant. Please also visit my blog at
http://tanzaniaanglicanyouth.blogspot.com where you can see more pictures and videos of youth choirs in action!
These are some of the projects which you can help us with. We would be really grateful for your support:
1. Youth Recording Studio
We aim to set up a recording studio in Dodoma to give some of the youth choirs access to quality recording facilities so they can record their music, spread their message more widely and raise money for their groups. We have already raised about £5,000 through events here in Tanzania and the sale of a CD made specially for this fundraising but need to raise another £15,000 to make this possible. Please help us with a donation for this project, or contact me if you would like to buy a CD for £10. The studio, once up and running will also provide a source of income for the youth office to help us to run some of our other smaller projects and general activities
2. Music and Worship Training Seminars
We want to give training to choir leaders and songwriters in music and worship. In general they are incredibly talented but have little or no training so we want to help them improve their skills, the quality of the message in their songs and encourage a heart for true worship. We have started this project and have enough funds to deliver seminars in one "zone" of ACT, of which there are 5. We need around £800 to enable us to do this in one zone, and there are 4 more to go!
3. Bible Study Seminars
We want to train youth leaders in running bible studies with their groups, as this is uncommon in Tanzania. We want to encourage young people to study their bibles with their friends and individually to develop their faith. We are using a bible study book especially developed for young people, called "mwamba salama"
4. National Youth Conference
We aim to hold a national youth conference in 2012. The last one was held in 2009 and we haven't be able to have one since due to lack of resources This will involve youth choirs from every diocese across the country who will come together to sing and celebrate and will also be given training in a range of issues. We need around £5000 to hold this conference.
5. Small Loans and Savings Scheme for youth groups
We have an ongoing project whereby we support youth groups with small loans to develop small income generating activities through which they can support their groups, families, local communities and churches. Please see my other just giving page dedicated specifically to this project http://justgiving.com/Tanzania-youth
Thanks for reading this and we would be so grateful for your support as well as for your prayers for our work.
