This historic 3-mile charity swim first took place in the early 1970's. Though it has not been undertaken for some years it is being resurrected this year and will be swam under the same conditions as when it was first orchestrated - cold water and wetsuits!
The swim takes place on the icy River Thames on December 26th, 2011 to raise money through the BFF for the Deptherapy Foundation www.deptherapy.co.uk
The foundation has been set up to work with wounded armed service personnel using Scuba diving as a revolutionary therapy. Doctors have found that troops who undertake the programme rehabilitate 65% more quickly than control groups with similar injuries. A recent study has also found that those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder reported an 80% improvement in their condition after emabrking on the programme.
