We are working to raise awareness of Inflammatory Breast Cancer, a rare but very aggressive form of cancer, to explain what it is to the public and health professionals and why it is important to recognise it so that treatment can start as quickly as possible to improve prognoses. We are also raising funds to promote research into IBC's causes, treatment and cure

My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, please dig deep and sponsor me as I take on a challange that is daunting to me - traveling half way around the world to join a peer support adventure!

In 2004 twenty young breast cancer survivors challenged themselves to a 1,000 mile ride on Harley-Davidson motorcycles from San Diego to San Francisco, California. Along the way they formed life long friendships, gained support and strength in dealing with their breast cancer experience, and raised vital funds for and awareness of breast cancer issues.

This first ride expanded in 2005 to become a Global Relay with 1,000 mile rides in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia, involving 48 young breast cancer survivors from around the world. These motorcycle adventures, and other life affirming experiences, are organised by Amazon Heart, a not for profit global association of women living with breast cancer.

Younger women can feel very isolated when they are diagnosed as they enter a medical system designed around the needs of older women. Living with breast cancer shakes the foundations of their lives; challenging their body image, family and professional lives. Peer support programmes are invaluable in helping women find the strength and courage to face their personal challenges.

This year I will be joining 20 of these magnificent women in a 1,000 mile ride along Australia’s eastern coast.

The funds raised by UK women on rides across the globe will benefit two organizations. IBC UK was established for women facing the rarest and most rapidly progressive form of the disease, inflammatory breast cancer, and Amazon Heart UK Trust.
