The Yukon Arctic Ultra is toughest ultra race in the world.
Due to the very difficult conditions caused by:
· extreme coldness in the Yukon in February
· nature of the trail and
· distance which will have to be covered by the athletes
Situations which under normal circumstances don’t cause any problems can become absolutely life threatening in the dead of winter in the Yukon. Please keep this in mind at all times.
Macmillian Cancer Support One in three of us will get cancer and it’s the toughest fight most of us will ever face. By joining Team Macmillan in this fundraising event we're helping support people and their families living with cancer. Macmillan are the nurses and therapists helping people through treatment. The advisers telling them which benefits they are entitled to. The volunteers giving a hand with the everyday things. The campaigners pushing for better cancer care. The fundraisers who make it all possible. We can all be part of the team. We are Macmillan Cancer Support
Joliba Trust supports grassroots development work with farming and cattle-raising communities in some of the most marginal areas of Mali. Our particular focus is on projects to help women, and environmental work to sustain rural livelihoods.
Why Joliba, because we can’t choose where we are born, so the fact that we are even able to contemplate taking part in such an amazing challenge shows how lucky we are.
Andy and Shane became friends through Rugby, watching, playing and supporting. Rugby is a team sport which requires strength, endurance, intelligence and a good sense of humour and a little bit of madness. This is why together they believe they can take on this crazy challenge.
