Story

Young people living in poverty often find their opportunities limited and their dreams blocked because of the circumstances in which they have been raised and continue to live. They have hopes and dreams for themselves, their families and their communities but often even modest goals seem unreachable. Rarely do these young adults have a way of expressing to policy makers what it is that needs to happen in order to empower them so that those hopes and dreams can become reality.

As part of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion (2010) ATD Fourth World is bringing together a group of young adults from very poor backgrounds to work on a presentation to the European Parliament on October 17th (the International Day For the Eradication of Poverty).

To make this a reality the young people, supported by their families, friends and volunteers of ATD Fourth World have organised a fundraising bike ride for the 19th of June. The ride is going passed sites in important to the history of struggle against poverty in South East London and is open to anyone making a donation towards or raising money on behalf of ATD Fourth World. Please give generously and support our cyclists in taking their message to Europe.
