Story

Action Against Heartburn is a campaign by a group of charities who are promoting earlier diagnosis of oesophageal and stomach cancer.   Persistent heartburn (acid reflux) - especially at night - is a sign of stomach acid splashing up into the oesophagus.   Over time this damages the cells lining the oesophagus and can lead to Barrett's Oesophagus, a condition that carries a risk of adenocarcinoma (70% of the UK's oesophageal cancer cases).  Read more about it by visiting www.actionagainstheartburn.org.uk

The OPA keep the money raised through this page specially reserved for our campaign.   The target of £35,000 will enable BMJ Learning to create a learning module for GPs and other health professionals to help them in their task of diagnosing cancer earlier.
