Taking place on Sunday, 21 March in the grand Hunter Halls, , the Woman of Influence Awards exist to encourage, support and recognise influential women in . Previous winners include: Helen Liddell, ’s first female Secretary of State; Olivia Giles, Motivational Speaker and Charity Campaigner; and Elish Angiolini, the first ever female Solicitor General for and Lord Advocate.
Organised by a volunteer committee of dynamic Scottish women, the Awards have raised over £575,000 since the inaugural event in 2001, which has gone towards supporting some of the country’s most vulnerable and excluded children and young people in over 60 projects throughout .
This year, all money raised will go towards Action for Children’s Neglect appeal, recently launched by Davina McCall, which aims to raise £17million nationwide towards helping the country’s neglected children.
All donations received will go direct towards the Neglect Appeal.
£3 a month could help pay towards a fun day out for a neglected child
£5 a month could pay for two full dental hygiene packs for a year £8 a month could help pay for a reading lessons for a child
£15 could pay for a hot nourishing lunch for 10 neglected children
£25 could buy an educational toy for a family centre toy library
£100 could pay for an inexperienced parent to join an Action for Children parenting course
