Hey all,

This Summer I am heading out to the Mubende district in Uganda to help build a primary school in the remote Kanyogoga area. At the time of writing there are only three permanent classrooms for seven different classes - my team and I, in conjunction with the New Build Uganda project, hope to change that.

Since I've recently been informed that I can't build a school out of spare cereal boxes and pritt-stick, apparently we need to work with proper construction materials. With that in mind I am hoping to raise as close to a target of £1,000 as I can for materials we can actually work with.

This is the most amount of money I've ever tried to raise at once, so I really need your support, guys. It's all going to a good cause, and will have a lasting effect on the Ugandan society we're looking to help. I really appreciate donations of any size.

I don't personally see any of this money - every penny goes directly towards the building, and I am making my own way there to help out.

In addition to this, I'll put events up on Facebook as I organise them. Ideas in the works so far are pub quizzes, sponsored Jitsu, gigs and parties, assault courses and a determined friend rather foolishly pledged to do several kilometres in forward rolls. I'll keep you guys posted as they come up.

Thanks,

Adam Healey

UPDATE 24/5/11: Thanks to everyone who came to the New Build Uganda Pub Quiz a few weeks ago! We've only just got around to counting up the money raised, and it comes to just over a hundred pounds!

UPDATE 29/5/11: Just abseiled down a 100ft Carpark. Because I can. And for charity. Figures are just coming in, but collectively we raised between three and four hundred pounds! This was helped in no small way by spending 5 hours baking cookies with my girlfriend that were sold with the same aim in mind. We are awesome.

UPDATE 5/6/11: Just paid my registration for the SPARTAN RACE! Doing that in Virginia, USA, on the 18th of June. They won't know what's hit them...

UPDATE 24/6/11: Back from America. Finished with a time of just over 39 minutes in the Spartan Race - 36th out of 146 overall! Not bad...
