In a brave/foolish attempt to ensure I actually stay fit and somehow burn off the excessive calories consumed through the medium of lager (see pic), I've signed up to do the Royal Parks half marathon on October 11. I'll be dragging my sorry form through some of London's most beautiful scenery, whilst simultaneously wishing I was dead, at a time on Sunday morning when I'm normally fast asleep or at the very most watching the Hollyoaks omnibus.
If you're in London, you're more than welcome to come watch, point and laugh, and hopefully be on hand with an oxygen mask and a defibrillator come the finish line. But wherever you are, I'd be really grateful if you'd sponsor me for doing this: because as well as an opportunity for me to get in shape, I'm doing this to raise money for a charity I do a lot of work with called YouthNet.
YouthNet offers a unique blend of information, advice and support on anything and everything a young person needs. Whether it's emergency help in times of crisis or the chance to talk anonymously to peers or experts, YouthNet is always there for young people, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through two award-winning websites: www.do-it.org.uk and www.TheSite.org. If you're fortunate enough to still be a young person (I'm not, god dammit) you may even wish to avail yourself of their services.
Please give generously - and many thanks for your support.
Adam.
