My story
Since our parents’ retirement and return to Israel over 6 years ago, they have been heavily involved with a charitable organisation called ‘Lasova’.
Lasova was set up in 1990 to help the tens of thousands of people in Israel who are unable to afford even the most basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter. Originally it consisted of one small soup kitchen in Tel Aviv but today it has developed into a diverse network of social welfare agencies comprising of 4 soup kitchens, 3 homeless shelters, a network of youth & children’s homes where deprived children can go to eat and play. It also has a mobile clothes collection unit and a food collection and delivery service. Today Lasova serves over 2,000 meals a day and accepts all people regardless of race, religion or circumstance.
A little over 3 years ago our parents became involved in a project which involved converting an old synagogue in Tel Aviv into a state of the art soup kitchen, with the goal of serving daily 800 meals to adults and providing over 600 meals for children’s homes. The new centre will also have a health care facility, a charity clothes distribution center and a homeless shelter and we are very pleased to say that the work has almost been completed.

Last year in order to assist with the work going on in Israel we set up a charity called “UK Friends of Lasova” which is now actively raising money in the UK.It would mean the world to us that instead of giving birthday presents, you would make a contribution to this charity and this project. No gift would make a greater difference than this as there are so many people that depend on this charity every day of their lives.
