Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi everyone,
For anyone who doesn't know me, my name is Adele Noone and I am 26 years old. My brother, Mark, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in November 2008. MND is a fatal neurological illness which sadly has no cure. It affects both men and women and causes progressive paralysis, loss of speech and difficulty in eating and drinking. More than 320 people currently have the disease in Scotland and more than 120 people will be diagnosed this year!
MND has very sad and obvious effects on the body and it is extremely difficult to watch someone you care so much about deteriorate so rapidly. It puts immense strain and pressure on a family and also on day to day life. Despite the frustration Mark must feel he remains positive and upbeat and keeps his very sarcastic sense of humour!!
Mark is 35 years old and has been coping with this disease for a year. He is one of the strongest and most determined people I know and I am so proud to call him my brother. He is married and has two beautiful children, Abbi, 6 and Clark, 2. Mark is dealing with this disease amazingly well and I am sure that not everyone in his predicament has his strength or laid back approach to MND. This is why I am appealling to you for your support, by sponsoring me in the Falkirk Firewalk (March 2010), in honour of all MND sufferers, to help provide MND Scotland with the funding they need to reasearch this diseaese and maybe one day find a cure?!
One day it could be you or someone you care about?....
So, please give whatever you can and help me help MND find a cure. If we do you will know you were a major part of the solution.
