Developments In Literacy (DIL) Trust UK is a charity which is steadfastly committed to reversing these stark realities that still prevail in Pakistan:
52% of all Pakistanis are illiterate 72 % of Pakistani women cannot read or write Only 42% of Pakistani children are enrolled in schools, and less than half complete five years of schoolingDIL has successfully established over 150 girls’ schools in some of the poorest and remote areas of Pakistan. More than 15,159 students are being educated in DIL schools.
It is that time of year when DIL Trust UK is having its annual fund raiser on 30th Jan 2010 at Claridges with a Sham-e-Ghazal an Urdu poetry recital to music. I was hoping to seek your generous support. The idea of the table being, that each table raises funds for a particular DIL Trust UK initiatives. I am hoping to raise £8000 to achieve the following:
1.To upgrade our Mehran School in Orangi (the largest squatter settlement in Karachi) to matriculate
2. To providing free vocational training courses to the graduated students and families in Orangi Pakistan.
3. To provide vocational training courses British women from multi ethnic minorities .
