This June I'm taking part in a huge challenge in aid of The Back Up Trust and I really need your help. I'm going to be the first hand-cyclist to take part in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain from John O'Groats to Lands End. Just completing this 950 mile route might seem tough enough, that is until you consider it's all to be completed in only 9 days. That's over 105 miles every day!

To put this in perspective, the most I've ever cycled in one day is 91 miles, and I certainly didn't get up the next morning and do it again. I have a 12 hour window in which to complete each daily stage and there are no rest days. After each stage I have to use my exhausted arms to get back into my wheelchair, get some food on board, and grab a few hours sleep in a tent before the next stage.

This really is the biggest challenge I've ever been crazy enough to get involved in and I really want all the sweat and pain (not to mention the endless training) to be worth it. Anyone who knows me will understand how much The Back Up Trust means to me (it was on one of their courses that I got my first taste of hand-cycling) and all of the money you donate will go towards completeing this challenge and helping Back Up to change the lives of people living with a spinal cord injury. Back Up changed my life, and if you want to know more about their work click here.
