Story
In October 2019 I am joining 32 colleagues from across Telefonica cycling from the Head office in Madrid Spain to the UK head office in Slough, a grueling ride covering over 400 miles in 5 days. The team includes a support crew, and the event has been made possible through support from a number of our partners.
Now it is my turn to ready myself for the event, and encourage as many people as possible to support it in some way.
The route takes us straight up through Spain to Santander, then we jump on a 23 hour ferry to Portsmouth, from where we will finish the journey to the Slough offices. In total we will be cycling over 400 miles in 5 days.
Telefonica UK has strong established relationship with NSPCC where employees are actively encouraged to support a range of initiatives in support of the work of the NSPCC. We have specifically focused on our partnership with the NSPCC (Stay Safe Online Campaign).
“To children, online life is real life. Parents and families know how
to keep kids safe when they go out to play, and it should be the same when they use a computer or phone. That’s why O2 and the NSPCC have joined forces.”
As a team we have an overall target of £18,000, but we are hoping we can smash this target.
1. £5 could pay to answer one NSPCC Helpline call
2. £25 could pay for a trained practitioner to spend an hour with a family supporting parents to care for their children
3. £500 could pay for running the NSPCC help-line for one hour
4. £1,600 could pay to recruit, train and support a new volunteer
5. £30,000 for pay to run NSPCC Helpline for one day
