Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi my name is Alexander Norrie and I work as a Fire Fighter at Hawick Fire Station. On the 9 April I have decided to pack up my tent, put on my trekking boots, throw on my rucksack and travel to the Khumbu region of Nepal, home of Mount Everest (8846m), the world’s highest mountain, and take on the Base Camp Everest Trek (5365m). The flight into Lukla in a Twin Otter aircraft obviously wasn’t adventure enough so I have chosen to do the trek without guides or porters so will be carrying all my own kit. My trek will also include Kala Patar (5545m) - a natural view point offering unprecedented views of Everest, and a substantially more testing and unusual route across the Ngozumpa Glacier - Cho La Pass - to Gokyo Lakes. I will be stopping off along the way in the Sherpa villages, staying in tea houses and also taking time to acclimatise and experience the local culture and traditions as well as visiting the schools on route.
I have also decided to try and raise funds for the Scottish Burned Children’s Club ( http://www.theburnsclub.org.uk ), which is a wholly voluntary organisation that receives no central funding and is solely reliant on the generosity of donations, sponsorship and fundraising events. The organisation helps children, up to the age of eighteen, who have sustained burn and scald injuries with their rehabilitation and also provide support to their families. They are working hard to reduce such injuries by raising awareness promoting safe practice in relation to the dangers associated with burns and scalds. Please help me to raise some much needed funds for such a worthwhile cause. Thank you for your support.
