Hi!
Thanks for looking!
Back in January of this year I decided that this would be my year to get fit but due to a lack in motivation I decided that the best thing to do would be to sign up to an event! After perusing several sports and challenges, running 13.1 miles seemed like a wonderful idea!!! I guess I was rather naive in January :)
But anyway, on Sunday 27th September 2009 I WILL put on my trainers and I WILL run my little heart out because I'm aiming to not only personally achieve something but to do it for a fantastic charity too!
I'm running in aid of CLAPA which stands for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association. It helps children and their families who are born with a cleft lip, palate or both get through the often intense surgery and speech therapy which ultimately leads to these kids having a normal life.
I myself was born with a cleft palate and between the ages of one month and 13 years I had 6 operations and hundreds of hours of speech therapy to allow me to eat, speak and have the confidence to be who I am today. Plus, my late mother was a great supporter of the charity, giving many many hours to help other families through the difficult times she went through with me. - This September will mark 6 years since she passed away and 2009 would have marked her 50th birthday too. So this run will be to celebrate an amazing lady and a fantastic charity all at the same time!
So soppy bit over...I'm looking to raise at least £500 for CLAPA and would really appreciate it if you could help me reach this target. Knowing you are supporting me will definitely get me around that grueling 13.1 miles.
