My story

Okay so on 16th September 2012 I will be turning 25 AND I will be spending the day attempting to run the Great North Run.

For those of you not in the know the GNR is the world's largest half-marathon starting in Newcastle and ending in South Shields...That's 13.1 miles or about 21k!

If you know me you'll know that I rarely engage in exercise, aside from busting some questionable moves on a Saturday night, and I am extremely adverse to early mornings, so this is going to be a massive challenge for me...

I am doing it for a number of reasons, firstly because it's probably the only thing on my bucket-list that I can afford to do, secondly because it will force me to get fit and lastly because it is a great opportunity for me to raise some money for a cause which I really believe in.

I am running on behalf of the Howard League for Penal reform... you may not have heard of them but they are a charity working towards reducing crime, making communities safer and most importantly towards sending fewer people to prison.

You may or may not know that I have become very interested in prison law and prisoners' rights of late. So much so that I am hoping to practise in the area when I (eventually) qualify as a Barrister.

SO I completed the Great North Run on Sunday in 2hours 26minutes... Not bad for my first ever race! If you didn't want to sponsor me until I completed it then now is your time. This page stays active for a few months!
