Nexus Rag Week This is the annual fundraising week set aside from the normal timetable in which staff and students alike get together to raise funds for the furtherance of the vision and continued running of Nexus Music School. Whilst much of the funds come from fees, the school could not continue to run without the support of regular donors and those who support the Rag Week events.
Through the challenges of the activities people are shaped
and relationships are strengthened,
building connections that go beyond the first year spent at Nexus.
To that end, there are a number of challenges this year
· Cycling through an A to Z list of British towns and cities.
· Running the width of Britain.
· Perform 5 separate 24hour drumming sessions (with 12hr breaks for travel) across the country.
· Get as far from Coventry (and back!) using only Busking to raise funds or obtain carriage.
· Write, rehearse, produce and perform a feature length Motown themed Musical
The Challenge This year I am involved with the musical. We will start the week with no more than a vague idea of a plot and perhaps some songs to include. It will be based on Motown music and in that week we will need to write the script; learn songs and dance moves; design and construct sets; make costumes and finally perform to the public at the end of the week.
This is going to require a lot of very long hours, some intense rehearsals, some serious teamwork as well as the ability to draw on the creativity of everyone involved.
We will be performing the musical on Friday the 15th of May at Nexus College, 71 Albany Road, Earlsdon, Coventry.
One way to support me is to come to see the musical on the 15th and the other way is through my justgiving page. Any amount will be more than welcome. Even with small donations, we can reach our goal of £22’000 within all of us. So, any amount is welcome!
Thanks so much for your support!!
