On April 25th, 2010, Stu and I will be running the Virgin London Marathon and will be raising money for Whizz-Kidz.

We are running this in memory of my Mum, who died in 2007.  She ran the London Marathon in 1989, when she was the same age as I will be running it this year.  We had always said that it would have been good to run it together, but although that now cannot be, I know if she were around, she would be cheering us on the loudest!   You'll see some pictures on this website of when mum was training for the marathon, and her fundraising.  My fashion sense was not at its best at that age, so please don't mock the perm or the nice turned up jeans!!!

We will be running on behalf of Whizz-Kidz, you can find more information about the charity on the link.  This charity provides mobility and support to many disabled children, which allows them to have freedom and the ability to make the most of their lives.  This was always a cause close to Mum's heart, having always supported and encouraged my twin sister Mary, who has cerebral palsey, and is one of the reason's why Mary has achieved so much.  I know she would be extremely proud of all Mary's accomplishments - going to university, owning her own flat, learning to drive, having a great job and getting an MBE being just a few of them.  When Mum ran the marathon, she raised money with her friend Gina, for a boy's motorised wheelchair.   I know she would be really pleased to think the money we are raising will be going to help other children achieve their goals in life.

See the following link to find out how Whizz-Kidz changed the life of one young lad.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bwA_Vo4iVo

Please if you can give any amount it will be much appreciated, and every penny will help Stu and I get to the finish!

This will be our first marathon, as previously we have only ever run 2 half marathons.  The training has begun in earnest and we'll keep you updated on our progress.
