Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been allocated a charity gold bond place in the Virgin 2010 Virgin London Marathon on the 25th April 2010.  I have to raise at least £1500 for my charity.

I have chosen to take on this running task as I wanted to feel like I had achieved something in  my life.  Also I wanted to run it in memory of my dear dad who died of cancer, although he did not use the hospice it was a consideration for us at the time .   Other members of my family have also died from cancer and I have friends who have been affected by this tragic disease.

The Hospice provides help and support to many families by providing Specialist Palliative Care to those people living with a life limiting illness.  They have 24 beds - 16 at Mount Edgcumbe and 8 at St Julia's for those people within the County who need their help and their service is completely free of charge, relying on donations from the general public.

It costs £11 per minute to run the Hospice, hence my appeal to you to help me raise as much funds as I can for this worthy cause.  So I appeal to all my friends, family, colleagues to help support me.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Sunday 8th Nov - what can I say to all my friends, work colleagues and family.  Thanks for all your support already the response has been great straight away.  I will keep you updated with what other fundraising I have planned.  My training has commenced in earnest, managed a longer run today which I am pleased about apart from getting nice and wet, oh well at least it cooled me down!  Joined Truro running club who were a friendly bunch and gave me some tips.  Bought myself some proper running gear now so just need to buy something important like proper running shoes!!! Please note the ones that were on my page were not mine!!  Once again thanks for your donation I would love to raise more than the target as this Charity is so worthy. xx

Tuesday 15th December, just been out for a rain and on my 6th soaking so far which isn't bad considering how much rain we have had lately.  Training going reasonably well, my shins are sore but no pain no gain but I am being a little careful to be on the safe side.  Fundraising is going very well, I raised £85 on a tombola at the work's craft fair and some of my friends and I went out on Saturday dressed as lady santas and we raised approx £344 so thanks to all the people out on Saturday 12th Dec and a mega thank you to Sarah Symons, Mel Roberts, Becky McLoughlin and Karen Andrew who were fantastic fundraisers.  I am now looking forward to the cake sale which is this Friday just hope I don't eat more than I sell. Well onwards and upwards!

Saturday 27th Feb.  Well training is continuing in earnest, I am too old for this!  Only about 8 weeks to go, I am really looking forward to it.  Decided I don't like long distance running anymore lol, only joking (well perhaps shorter mileage is preferable!), although I can't wait to have my life back and be able to come home from work and it still be daylight instead of having to run for two hours. (won't know what to do with my spare time!)  What is it with the men, they all seem to run so fast when I am out training and I am trudging round like I am on my last breath it is just so unfair.  Have a half marathon to complete tomorrow with our running club as we are trialling a proposed new route for the Truro Half Marathon.  I reached my marathon fundraising target before Xmas and have come across a couple of stumbling blocks to raise more money but will think of some more ideas I am sure, alot of other charities are taking priority at the moment but it won't deter me.  Just waiting now for my running vest and pack for the London Marathon.  What seemed like an idea so long ago is soon coming around.  Everyone is so supportive towards me doing the marathon it makes me feel proud.  Well if you are reading this and have made a donation I would like to thank you once again for supporting this charity.  We had a meeting in January for all the runners who are running for the Hospice so I have met about half the runners now supporting this fantastic and worthwhile charity.

Well the 25th has been and gone already.  What a fantastic but tiring day!  The support was overwhelming from everyone on the marathon day it was amazing to see so many people.  It has all felt a bit unreal, if it wasn't for the fact that I can hardly walk I can also hardly believe I have actually done it. My time was 5 hours 6 minutes, it was an extremely hard struggle but worth every bit to complete the challenge.

I would like to personally thank all my family, friends and colleagues for their support in my fundraising, for listening to me whinge how I had hurt my leg before the marathon and giving me so much encouragement which helped keep me going.  My partner, my daughter, my mum and her partner all came to support me which gave me tremendous encouragement when I was struggling through I can't thank them all enough.

Thank you everyone! xx
