PETS AS THERAPY - Wirral/Merseyside Branch
We are organising a sponsored walk on Sunday, 27th September 2009 to raise as much money as possible for our charity and I need your help!! All Pets As Therapy volunteers give up their spare time to regularly visit care homes, people in hospital - young or old, special needs schools, hospices ... anywhere in fact where a PAT animal is needed to cheer them up.
I have seen first hand how much benefit people gain from these visits which is why I became involved - the residents at the care home I visit really do look forward to my PAT dog Izzie's visit every Friday and so do we! We all know the benefits and pleasure that owning a pet can bring but what about those, for example, stuck in hospital - they obviously can't own pets but they can enjoy a visit from a friendly PAT dog or cat!
So, please do give what you can - it will be hugely appreciated.
"THE HILBRE TRIPLE" SPONSORED WALK - Sunday, 27th September 2009 at 11am
We shall be walking all the way over to the three Hilbre Islands with all our fantastic registered P.A.T. Dogs in full Pets As Therapy uniform – it will be an awesome sight to behold! We shall be in the safe hands of the guides at West Wirral Walks and along the way we will learn all about the history, flora and fauna of this amazing Nature Reserve. But we want to raise as much sponsorship as we can for this event and this is where you come in!
We have set ourselves a tough target to raise of £5,000 as we like a challenge but, of course, we can’t do it without you!
Please do take a little time to read about the great work our visiting Pets As Therapy dogs and cats do, and you will understand why we are all so passionate about our charity. We really have witnessed first-hand the joy these fantastic animals bring into people’s lives.
Pets As Therapy is national charity and is unique in that it provides temperament assessed/vaccinated PAT Dogs and PAT Cats with registered volunteers to hospitals, hospices, residential care homes, day centres, special needs schools and many other establishments, providing comfort, companionship and therapy. There are approximately 4,500 PAT Dogs and 108 PAT Cats bringing benefit to more than 130,000 people of all ages every single week throughout the UK.
