Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 26th of September I'm going to be running (well hopefully!) the Windsor 8k Women's race in the Great Park. I decided to start running to try to lose my 'mummy tummy' after the birth of baby Emma in February. I've never done any running before, except for the odd dash for a train, so it's been a bit of shock to the system. Alex gave me a training schedule and I've been pounding the streets of Windsor whenever I can.
Having put in all this effort I've decided that it would be good to do more than just lose weight so I've decided to run the race in aid of The Miscarriage Association. The Miscarriage Association is a charity that offers support and information to people who are affected by the loss of a baby in pregnancy. I found the information they provided extremely helpful and comforting when I lost the twins back in Feb 2007. At that time I didn't know that 1 in 4 pregancies end in miscarriage and until I had one, I had never heard of a 'missed miscarriage' either. Finding out that the twins had died at 16 weeks but I hadn't miscarried was the most heartbreaking moment of my life.
Thanks to the support and love of all our friends and family, Alex and I were able to move on and are so happy now that we have little Emma.
So many women suffer miscarriage and it can be a frightening and lonely experience which is so often kept secret. It is important therefore that women have somewhere to turn and The Miscarriage Association provide that vital service.
I do hope that you feel able to donate some pennies to this worthwhile cause. Thanking you in advance! Amanda xx
