Story

Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page. We are rowing the Great River Race on Saturday Sep 7th for our friends, Alison and John who lost their son this year;

"Our dear son Richard very sadly died in March this year aged 32. Richard's untimely death was caused by a fire in his west London flat, which started whilst he was sleeping.  To date we do not know the cause.  In memory of Richard we will be working with Rospa on a campaign related to the dangers of fire for young people living in flats in London. We aim to raise awareness of the need to have smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as other causes of fires. Many of Richard's friends want to help in the campaign. However there will be costs involved in advertising and carrying out our campaign. Please sponsor the HSC crew to help ensure other parents do not suffer in the way that we have. Donations however small will be gratefully received." Alison

About the charity

Every year in the UK, 14,000 people have their lives cut short following an accident. Millions more end up in A&E, many suffering injuries so serious their lives are never the same again. Accidents are also the biggest killer of children and young people... Yet they don't have to happen.
