American Air Museum

The American Air Museum at IWM Duxford stands as a memorial to nearly 30,000 US airmen who gave their lives while flying from British bases, including RAF Duxford, during the Second World War.  It is the only memorial museum of its kind outside the United States.
After almost 15 years of operation, the American Air Museum is in urgent need of renovation and upgrade.  The redevelopment will:
 

 •Restore the museum to ensure the preservation of priceless    vintage aircraft and other artifacts.
  •Maintain the safety of the structural components of the museum.
 •Reconfigure the museum space to make a more pleasing environment for visitors.
 •Update content of exhibits and incorporate new media and technologies.
 •Tell the personal stories of US airmen during times of conflict and peace.
