As some of you know, my mother has been very ill over the last few years and has
been on dialysis for the last 2 as a result of kidney failure. She has recently
undergone tests which will allow her to have a kidney transplant and although
she is not on the list yet, it is looking likely that she will be very soon!
However, the average waiting time for a kidney is currently 3 years and
is increasing all the time. This means she, along with many others, will have to
continue to travel for dialysis 3 times a week to keep her alive.
South
West Thames Kidney trust are the people who look after my mum, along with
hundreds of others, and their amazing hard work is the reason my mum is alive
today. Without the extra money they receive from charity they would not be able
to offer dialysis to as many people as they do, due to its extreamly high costs
(around £30,000 per patient, per year).
So, I am taking part in the
Adidas Women's 5k Challege, along with my mum, to help raise some money for them.
I know it's no marathon, but for those of you who know me well you will know
that I hate any form of running or even fast walking so for me it is a
challenge!
Even if you can only spare 50p, I would be so grateful if you
could sponser me!
Love
Amy x
