I decided to support the Bristol Cats and Dogs’ Home for two reasons:

-          I like animals, when I moved to the from , I even brought my cat with me here, did not want to leave him behind!

-          I volunteered for them a couple of years ago and they are a great bunch of people, doing fantastic work helping animals and pets in need to get a chance for a better life and find a happy home.

This triathlon was my first attempt at long-distance racing, and I was very nervous before the start. I am not a very confident swimmer and open water scares me, so 1.2 miles in the open water sounded pretty nerve-racking. The bike ride was beautiful, along roads, which we shared with horses, cows, donkeys and pigs! The run was off-road, very hilly and tough – definitely the hardest half-marathon I’ve done! I was immensely happy to cross that finish line and the thought that I was doing it to help raise money for charities kept me going.
