Dear all
I have been invited to take part in this years Great South Run which takes place on 25th October 2009.
The mad woman I am - I have decided to accept the challenge and in order not to just run for my own enjoyment (yeah right!), I have decided to raise sponsorship money for Brendoncare.
Brendoncare is a registered charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people with 10 care centres across the south, each with its own distinctive personality. They also provide outreach, close care and daycare services and the care centres are located in Winchester and Alton (Hampshire), London, East Grinstead (West Sussex), Exeter (Devon), Marlborough (Wiltshire) and Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire). Brendoncare is a respected force among charities caring for frail older people and strives to help influence the future direction of healthcare in the sector. They also have a network of over 70 social clubs (Brendoncare Clubs) providing fun, friendship and support for older people in Hampshire, Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole - a community service dedicated to enriching the quality of life of older people.
Although it would be quite a few years before I personally could benefit from their services, I figured it is about time to give something back to our local community - afterall, we are all getting old at some point! Now, my target is very modest and I am hoping that will all your help I can raise a lot more - just remember the magic words: It's all for a good cause! (and it's going to be me who will be pounding the streets of Portsmouth - surely that deserves some money alone!)
