Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well I have just returned from Yorkshire, having ridden the 1st stage of this years Tour de France. IT WAS BRILLIANT! there were 3 hard climbs to get over. luckily the day was dry but not too hot. JDRF did a great job organising the whole thing and in total 110 of us rode. I met some amazing people and we have raised lots of money to help JDRF do their essential work for everyone who has Type 1. There is still time to donate if you haven't already. what shall I do next?!
I have reached and broken my target! THANK YOU to every one who has already donated. BUT please keep giving if you havent already.
The more i can raise for JDRF the more research they can do. it would change Matthews life if JDRF found the cure.
please read on to find out why i am riding
I am doing this ride for JDRF, Juvenile diabetes research foundation, who are fighting to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
Our son Matthew was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in February 2007 at the age of 3 and has been fighting a daily battle ever since. The plans we had for our family with 2 young boys changed that day forever. Matthew started his treatment on 4 injections every day on top of the 4 or 5 finger pricks to check that his blood sugar was within target level. He has been on an insulin pump for the last 2 years and his control has improved although he dreads the canula change every 3 days and when asked if he could change one thing he said that he hates the finger pricks that he still has to do at least 4 times every day.
Type 1 diabetes management is relentless, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no time off for good behaviour, it goes with you on holiday, at the weekend and is even there on Christmas Day...
JDRF passionately believe that one day research will deliver the cure for Type 1 diabetes. Finding that cure is just a matter of time and money.
Please give if you can
Thank you
