Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to run this Marathon in aid of the Kent Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre at Canterbury. As many of you will already know my wife Gill was diagnosed with MS just before our wedding 5 years ago. Since the diagnosis our lifestlye has had to change considerably in order to manage the impact of the illness.

Unfortunately last year Gill had to take medical retirement from her job as a Speech Therapist as she was unable to continue at work due to her constant fatigue and pain. Obviously she has found it very difficult to come to terms with leaving her career at such a young age. However, the amazing support she has received from the Kent MS Therapy Centre has enabled us to get through this year, to recognise that we are not alone in our situation and to be more positive about the future.

In December 2011, I made my first visit to the Centre to collect Gill. I was amazed by the services & support they provide to people with MS, and by the friendliness & dedication of the staff. They are however, providing this wonderful facility in a small, run down building which is inadequate for the services they are providing. They are currently working hard to raise £1.3 million to build a new state of the art centre, the plans of which are on display in the current building. They rely on the funds raised on events, such as this Marathon to help towards the cost of the new building.

I hope this will encourage you sponsor me for such a worthy cause. So please dig deep and donate now however large or small.
