Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Don't ask why, but I've always fancied the challenge of cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats! So, my best mate Phil and I will be taking two weeks towards the end of May to cycle from the depths of Cornwall up to the tip of Scotland on an unsupported basis, our chosen route is 1017 miles, averaging 70 miles per day!
I have chosen to support The John Townsend Trust, which incorporates The Royal School for Deaf Children Margate (RSDCM), as it is often the smaller Charities that need our support just as much, if not more, than the large national charities. I also have a personal interest, as my good friend and work colleague, Darren Joslin has a daughter at the school. Olivia is now 11 years old and has been at the RSDCM since she was 4. A virus during pregnancy has resulted in Olivia being profoundly Deaf and severely autistic. Her only form of communication is through British Sign Language.
The Charity provides specialist education and residential care for children and young people who all have hearing loss or other communication difficulties and also have other additional needs such as autism, cerebral palsy, challenging emotional and physical problems and learning difficulties. The organisation strives to fulfil the maximum potential of the children and young people by supporting them through practical education into work placements and where required into adult life in assisted and supported residential accommodation provided by the Charity. More information on the charity can be found on their website www.johntownsendtrust.org.
So please dig deep and help me along my way, all of your support will be greatly appreciated!
