Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  I'm Andy Verner and im raising this money through my business AVM Marketing Services - http://www.avmarketing.co.uk and my team member Susan Chalmers through her work Chrysalis Health & Well Being - www.chwb.co.uk - on behalf of Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS).  Read below to find out more about the excellent work they do and how your donation will contribute.

  • Coronary heart disease is Scotland's biggest killer.
  • Stroke is the main cause of disability in the community.
  • Chest illnesses of various kinds are the biggest single reason people use the health service.
  • These stark facts illustrate the challenges facing Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland.

The charity was formed a century ago to help in the fight against tuberculosis. That fight was won, but today the battle goes on against ailments which continue to blight the well being of the nation.

Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland's strategy is to direct resources on a number of fronts.

    Research

We fund research into all aspects of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and the social impact of chest, heart and stroke illness. Our current programme is worth more than £1 million.

    Care And Support

We provide care and support throughout Scotland for people affected by these conditions, as well as their families and other carers. More than 1,200 people affected by stroke, especially those with communication problems, benefit from our main community service, the Volunteer Stroke Service (VSS) and 800 volunteers help operate it locally.

    Advice

The Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland Advice Line offers a direct link to confidential, professional advice from trained nurses. This is backed up by our Publications Department with booklets, factsheets, DVDs and videos, available free to patients and carers. Our health professionals provide specialist advice and training to particular groups with specific needs. More than 100 local chest, heart and stroke clubs are affiliated to Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland and our Community Support Network brings practical help and advice to those whose need is greatest.

    Welfare

Our welfare grant programme provides direct financial aid to help patients and their families with some of the practicalities of living with a debilitating illness. Our specialist Benefits Advice Service is reaching a growing number of those in need.

    Funding

To maintain and expand our vital work in research and community services, we rely almost entirely on the continuing generosity of the Scottish public, business and community organisations. Every pound we raise in Scotland is spent on research and services in Scotland.

Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) needs to raise £5 million every year in order to continue and grow our vital community services and research projects.
