My story

Dear All,

I’ve just got back from  (10 July).  I'm in really good shape, although my legs are a little sore but will do some light training (active recovery) to morrow before work.  My Target was to go sub 14 hours.  My final time was 12 hrs, 30 mins and 26 seconds, with which I’m well pleased.  And I enjoyed every single moment!

I hope to thank each one of you personally, but let me say here that I have been to tally overwhelmed by your support and good luck messages.  During some lows, particularly on the run, knowing there was so many of you willing me on certainly helped to keep my legs going.  I blubbered like a baby at the finish line.  For me this was soooooOOO much more than a sporting achievement: it was a great opportunity to do some good by raising money for a well-deserving charity and to provide hope and inspiration to those to uched by serious disease.

The target of £3,000 is shattered thanks to your fantastic support - including GiftAid it stands at £5,550 (28 July 2008).  I am, as I know Cancerbackup is to o, very grateful for your donations – THANK YOU.

“What’s next?” is the question I’m most commonly asked by those who know me only to o well.  I’m sure I’ll come up with something to to p Ironman!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and to tally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancerbackup will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

The Making of a Plan & Delivery
Whilst in isolation having undergone very high dose chemotherapy with stem cell recovery, I hatched a three-year plan to do an Ironman, an obvious choice as I was neither from a swimming, cycling, running nor endurance background!  I have three clear objectives: firstly to provide some hope and inspiration to those  to uched by cancer, secondly to raise funds in aid of Cancerbackup, and finally to show utter defiance to my disease.

The training is demanding, I could not do this without the fantastic support of my wife, Linda, and our children, Samantha and Adam.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
