My cousin Simon Adams (46) was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) last October. Tragically, Simon has been diagnosed with the most severe form of this terrible disease and has been given only a very short time to live. In fact he has already lost the power of speech, the use of one of his arms and there is absolutely no cure. His only way of communicating properly now is via email and he described to me recently the utter loneliness of this disease.
Despite all of this, instead of retreating into a state of despair, Simon decided to set his sights on raising £1 million for Motor Neurone Disease research. Not a single penny will go towards Simon's treatment, because there is nothing anyone can do for him. Instead, all of the money raised will go to creating treatment for future sufferers, and who knows, maybe even a cure!
Part of his 'Bucket List' of wishes to complete before he passes away includes entering 100 of his friends and family into the Half-marathon in his home town of Plymouth. To help him achieve his ambitious target of £1m he has rallied round his army of The Golden 100, where each runner has their own aim of raising at least £1000, and hopefully more. If we can manage to do this Simon will be at least a tenth of his way there.
I agreed immediately to enter this race, way before reality kicked in, and I now find myself less than 2 weeks away from the big day on Sunday May 30th. I have left it late before writing this because I wanted to make sure I would survive the training regime.
If you can donate anything to this exceptional cause to help me reach my £1000 target, and to help Simon achieve his dream while he can, I'd be enormously grateful. Please give what you can, and any messages of support you have for me would help me get through the tough run too!!
For more info on Simon and his achievements to date, or on the MND Association please visit Simon's website here: http://fatherabraham.co.uk/ so you can see what he has been upto, such as swimming with sharks, and schmoozing with the stars.

Thank you so much for your support, and I'll see you for a sharpener soon!
