I've now completed both events and have added a photo from each (I'm the one holding my hands up just in case you wondered!!).
I managed to complete the Great North Run in a miserable 1hr 59mins. Last year I did it in 1hr 51mins (having done the Robin Hood Half Marathon 3 weeks earlier) - I suppose I'm a year older now, so I'll use that as the excuse!!
As most of you will know, this is the second time I've used these pages to try and raise cash for a charity that's very close to me - AICR (Association of International Cancer Reasearch).
Last year I completed the Experian Robin Hood Half Marathon, and three weeks later the Great North Run.
This year I'm running two races again, and that's the reason for this page.This year, (unfortunately) the races are only one week apart. Knowing the limit my ageing body can achieve, I decided one would have to make way. As I'd already entered the Great North Run prior to knowing the date for the Robin Hood event, the latter had to be the one to give up.
I have however entered the Fun Run at the Robin Hood Event, and will be doing this in Fancy Dress!
I know things are very tight financially for a lot of people at the moment, but to help my fund raising this year Experian has kindly agreed to "Match Fund" the first £200 of contributions. That way, every pound you donate will be worth so much more!
You may also be aware that I lost both parents to cancer, so like do what I can to raise funds Ffor AICR. I've been actively supporting them for approx. 20 years, and would very much appreciate your help on this occasion.
